The People's Center - State of the Union
The People’s State of the Union is free and happens on the first Monday of every month. Join us for the next one on September 7th!
Making sense of the news cycle alone can be isolating and demoralizing. But when we come together to understand what is happening in our world, why, and what we can do about it, we open possibilities to change it.
The event will include several speakers, and group discussion.

Biography
Hanna Reichel is Charles Hodge Professor of Systematic Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary and holds a research fellowship at the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa. An internationally renowned scholar and widely sought speaker, Reichel has previously taught at Heidelberg University and Halle-Wittenberg University in Germany and the Protestant Theological University in Utrecht.
Reichel’s areas of interest span Christian doctrine and political theology, with special interests in Christology, theological anthropology, eschatology, the doctrine of God, theological method and critical epistemologies. Reichel’s first book, Theologie als Bekenntnis: Karl Barths kontextuelle Lektüre des Heidelberger Katechismus reframes Barth as a contextual theologian through his repeated engagements with this Reformed confession over the course of his life. The book received the Lautenschläger Award for Theological Promise and the Ernst Wolf Award. Reichel’s second book, After Method: Queer Grace, Conceptual Design, and the Possibility of Theology has been widely celebrated for building bridges between Queer-liberationist and Reformed-Systematic sensibilities, as well as constructively introducing design theory into conversations about theological method. Reichel’s newest book, For Such a Time as This: An Emergency Devotional is directed at a wider audience, offering a timely resource for ordinary Christians seeking to live faithfully in extraordinary times of societal upheaval and political fragility.
Reichel is currently working on two monograph-length projects: Against Humanity takes a critical inventory of theological conceptions of the human being in light of anti-humanist interventions across a range of disciplines. Political Theologies of Omniscience analyzes technology through a doctrinal lens, bringing surveillance studies and AI in conversation with historical debates on divine omniscience.
Reichel co-chairs AAR’s Christian Systematic Theology unit and is a member of the steering committee of the Karl Barth Society of North America and the annual International Karl Barth Conference in Switzerland. Reichel co-edits Brill’s Studies in Systematic Theology series and Routledge’s Karl Barth Studies series and chairs Princeton Theological Seminary’s Center for Barth Studies advisory board. Reichel’s work has also been featured in public outlets such as The Atlantic, the Presbyterian Foundation’s Leading Theologically, and CTI’s Theology Matters. A ruling elder in the PC (USA), Reichel serves on the Theology Working Group of the World Communion of Reformed Churches and preached the closing sermon at the 2025 Deutsche Evangelische Kirchentag in Hannover.

Together CO presents Democracy Protection Training: County Clerks and Recorders - Zoom
Join us on Thursday, July 23 for a monthly training series about Together Colorado's Faith-filled Power Building Strategy to protect democracy and build new systems and structures that work for all of us. During the meeting we will focus the training on the role of County Clerks and Recorders and how we hold them accountable.
Weekly vigil at the GEO Ice Detention Center, 3130 Oakland St, Aurora, CO.
In March of 2025, local activist Jeannette Vizguerra was detained by ICE in a Target parking lot here in Colorado. In response, organizers on the ground began to do a weekly vigil right outside of the GEO ICE Detention Center in Aurora. Every week since, without fail, there has been a group of people outside protesting the injustice of what ICE is doing and making sure the people who have been detained inside know that they are not being forgotten. Jeanette Vizguerra was released in December of 2025, but the vigils have persisted as the oppressive tactics and detainment by ICE across the country have continued.
To keep this important solidarity presence going, different organizations and community groups host the vigil each week. Each bringing their own unique programming and perspectives to this important action.
On Wednesday, July 15th, at 6pm, the Colorado Clergy Alliance will host the weekly vigil at the GEO Ice Detention Center, 3130 Oakland St, Aurora, CO.
We will gather on the south side of the detention center right outside the windows. There is a parking lot directly across the street from this spot as well that is typically open for people who come to park in. We are hoping that a significant number of clergy and congregants will come together to make a meaningful spiritual offering to those inside the detention center and the wider community who attends the weekly vigils.We are hoping that a significant number of clergy and congregants will come together to make a meaningful spiritual offering to those inside the detention center and the wider community who attends the weekly vigils.
Our CCA hosted vigil will include multispiritual collective singing, passing of the peace, prayers, scripture and reflections led by various clergy from the CCA.If you are interested in a speaking or song leader role, please let Rabbi Michael know by email at: kengmanam@gmail.com, by July 8th.It would be great to have some clergy or lay leaders who can speak other languages also volunteer to offer languages spoken by detainees. While this changes all the time, Spanish, Pashto, and Arabic are common languages.
The more people who show up, the more people who are inside the detention center know that they are not alone. As clergy it is important that we show up and bring our particular skills and gifts.This is an opportunity for all of us, clergy and congregants, to show up across spiritual and faith traditions to meet this moment of injustice in solidarity with those being oppressed and alongside their loved ones.

Steps to Stability 5K
Steps to Stability 5K is a community event hosted by The Gathering Place, bringing people together to walk, run, and show support for women, gender-diverse individuals, and their children working toward stability. Through our home, health, purpose, and community programs, The Gathering Place provides low-barrier, trauma-informed support for those seeking refuge from homelessness and instability.
Following the success of our inaugural Steps to Stability Hybrid 5K, we are excited to host the 2nd Annual Steps to Stability in June 2026. This event invites our community to come together in support of pathways to stability while raising awareness and resources for the individuals and families we serve.
Last year, participants showed up in incredible ways—walking, running, and cheering together to support our mission. The event raised essential funds and helped shine a light on the importance of safe, welcoming spaces and access to critical services for women, gender-diverse people, and children in our community.
This year’s event will feature opportunities for participants to connect, celebrate community impact, and learn more about the work of The Gathering Place and our partners who share a commitment to compassion, equity, and stability.
Whether you join us as a runner, walker, volunteer, or supporter, your participation helps sustain programs that provide essential resources, recovery support, and pathways to long-term stability.
