Our Team

Jacqueline Nkhonjera

Jacqueline Nkhonjera is a mission-driven leader, strategist, and poet devoted to moving resources toward imaginative futures. As Chief Operating Officer of NowHere Fund, she builds the operational architecture that allows ambitious grantmaking to reach the people and ideas that need it most.

Previously, as President of Hunt Alternatives, Jacqueline led the 45-year-old foundation as it began its final chapter, placing its most effective initiatives in lasting homes across nonprofit, academic, governmental, and multilateral institutions. She also advises philanthropists and philanthropic leaders through moments of change, growth, and reinvention.

Her career took root in the newsrooms of NPR and CNN and has since spanned continents and causes, from racial justice and gender equity to LGBTQ+ rights and climate resilience. Across it all, she is guided by a deep belief in the goodness and possibility of people, and in the power of storytelling to create lasting change.

Chief Operating Officer

Stephen Brackett

As Director of Core Partnerships, Stephen Brackett bridges the worlds of art, education, and grassroots organizing to build power within communities. Born and raised in Denver, Stephen’s life work is rooted in the belief that creativity is a vital tool for systemic change. This conviction drove him to co-found the protest-music project NOENEMIES, the youth empowerment organization Youth On Record, and perform as a member of Flobots. Guided by Ephesians 6:12—the understanding that our true struggles are against unjust systems and powers, not each other—Stephen focuses on amplifying marginalized voices. He finds his joy in tricksterism, giant toppling, spitting hot fire, and playing left-handed clawhammer banjo.

Lillian & Rodney

CEO and President (respectively)

Lillian was raised in family traditions of giving; financially when possible, with talent when available, and always by devoting time to the love and service of others.  She has spent much of her philanthropic career focused on supporting holistic approaches to mental health, environmental defense, and equity.  Lillian believes funders are most effective when working as partners in values-driven work.  Over the past 16 years, Lillian, along with Rodney, has directed NowHere in empowering nonprofits and building community across focus areas and the different geographic, economic and social sectors of Colorado.

Rodney, one of five children, is a Colorado native who was raised in an environment of service. His father was a union man and his mother worked for several different nonprofits during his childhood while together they also operated a receiving home for foster children, an experience that helped shape his lifelong love of studying the human condition. He earned a BA in anthropology from what is now Colorado State University Pueblo and spent 23 years as a bookseller. He has served on several boards, and for the past 16 years he and his wife, Lillian, have worked to preserve and expand innovative nonprofit responses to the needs of Colorado's communities.
