7/7, 10 am: CCA Press Conference at CO State Capitol to Protect the Vote and Democracy

Here in Colorado, our press conference in coordination with this national call is on Tuesday, July 7th at 10:00am, on the west steps of the Colorado State Capitol. Setup is at 9:30am. Our goal is for 50-100 clergy to show up for this press conference and we need your help. Please call/text and make personal invitations to 5 clergy you know.

As we approach the midterm elections this fall we find ourselves in tumultuous times. We are seeing authoritarianism spread across our country as those in power are deliberately destroying the foundations of U.S.-American democracy before our eyes. 

In response, across the nation there is a call being put out from Minneapolis for spiritual and faith leaders to organize to meet this moment and protect democracy as we know it. Faith In Us has been formed by spiritual and faith leaders and organizers on the ground in Minneapolis, taking lessons from their experience of Operation Metro Surge and creating a national initiative for clergy leadership across traditions to protect communities and defend democratic processes through coordinated, nonviolent action.

The organizers explain that: “As faith leaders, we stand for justice and fairness. We believe in protecting the dignity and rights of all people. We work to bring people together across every divide and we know that our democracy is strong when everyone is treated with dignity and when all voices are heard. As we approach the 2026 November elections, our freedom to vote and elect the leaders we choose is under threat. As clergy across faith, race and geography, we are joining together to protect our voting rights and the voting rights of our neighbors.”

To kick off this national initiative there will be press conferences in cities across the country held on July 7th. The goal of the press conference will be to draw attention to attempts to weaken faith in democracy and to undermine the power of our vote.
